📷 My Story
After retiring from a long career in civil engineering, I finally had more time to travel, explore, and reconnect with the creative side of myself that began decades ago behind a film camera.
My photography journey began in ninth grade with a Vivitar 220 SL, shooting for the school newspaper and yearbook. I later moved to an Olympus OM-10 and eventually into digital photography with the Nikon D100 around 2002. I’ve stayed with Nikon ever since. The tools have changed, but the enjoyment of capturing a place, a moment, or a memory has not.
Travel has become an important part of retirement. I enjoy returning to familiar places with a camera, discovering destinations I have never seen, and gradually working toward my long-term goal of visiting all 50 states. Photography gives those trips another purpose: documenting the character of a place and continuing to improve how I see and photograph the world.
✈️ Travel in My Go-Go Years
Travel has become one of the things I value most in retirement. I enjoy the major trips that take me somewhere completely new, but I also like the smaller journeys that gradually fill in the map and give me a reason to keep exploring.
Some trips are built around family, photography, or a special event. Others are simply an excuse to see a place I have never experienced before. That mix keeps travel interesting without making every trip feel like a major production.
My goal is to keep exploring at a pace that feels enjoyable and sustainable — adding new states, revisiting places worth seeing again, and using photography to create a better record of the journey along the way.
💻 Why Sweebrew Exists
Sweebrew.com started as a simple way to share photographs with family and friends at a time when online photo sharing was far less convenient than it is today.
Over time, the site became something more personal. It grew into a place to organize photographs, preserve travel memories, and bring together images from different stages of my life.
What began as a practical way to share pictures has gradually become a long-term visual archive — part travel journal, part photography collection, and part record of the places and experiences that have mattered to me.
📸 My Travel Backpack
My primary camera is the Nikon Z8
For travel, I keep the lens selection simple: Nikon 14-30mm, Nikon 24-120mm, and Nikon 100-400mm.
